"WHERE TO STAY
WELCOME TO ALSACE
Drop in for a stay or meal at ‘Délices de la Cigogne’ and you’ll find all the friendly warmth and gaiety of a real Alsatian welcome... in the middle of the New Caledonian bush!
The West Coast town of Bourail enjoys a picturesque location
between mountains and sea, around 2 ½ hours’ drive from
Noumea. Bourail is the hub of a stockbreeding and farming
community peopled by rodeoloving cowboys and famous for
its big Annual Fair in August, a magnet for thousands of visitors.
Local beauty spots include the magnificent beaches of Poé
and the lofty splendour of the ‘Bonhomme’ and ‘Roche Percée’rock formations.
When you’re in the area, don’t miss a visit to ‘Délices de la Cigogne’ rural guesthouse and restaurant, run by a warm-hearted couple from France’s Alsace region. They
really know how to make guests feel at home and you’ll love the friendly atmosphere. Play a game of billiards in the lounge and then tuck into a mouth-watering meal of Alsatian specialities: sauerkraut, flammekuche (flamed bacon and
cheese tart), baeckeoffe (hearty meat stew)... accompanied by a crisp Gewürztraminer or Riesling!
Too full to move? No worries, this little bush venue boasts 5 rooms sleeping 3 to 5 people...
